چکیده

A number of U.S. national programs, including space-based detection of ballistic missile launches, envisage putting significant computing power into space. Given sufficient progress in low-power VLSI, multichip-module packaging and liquid-cooling technologies, we will see design of high-performance multiprocessors for individual satellites. In very high speed implementations, performance depends critically on tolerating large latencies in interprocessor communication; without latency tolerance, performance is limited by the vastly differing time scales in processor and data-memory modules, including interconnect times. The modern approach to tolerating remote-communication cost in scalable, shared-memory multiprocessors is to (i) use a multithreaded architecture, and (ii) alter the semantics of shared memory slightly, at the price of forcing the programmer either to reason about program correctness in a relaxed consistency model or to agree to program in a constrained style. The literature on multiprocessor correctness conditions has become increasingly complex—and sometimes confusing—which may hinder its practical application. We propose a simple modern correctness condition for a high-performance, shared-memory multiprocessor; the correctness condition is based on a simple interface between the multiprocessor architecture and high-performance, shared-memory multiprocessor; the correctness condition is based on a simple interface between the multiprocessor architecture and the parallel programming system.

A Novel High-Performance Field-Weakening Control for Axial Flux-Switching Permanent-Magnet Motor

By combining the field-weakening control principle of a new axial flux-switching permanent-magnet motor (AFFSSPM) with the space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) and maximum torque per voltage (MTPV) control principle, a novel field-weakening control strategy for AFFSSPM is proposed in this paper. In the first stage of the field-weakening, the difference between the reference voltage updat...

A Balanced Approach to High-Level Verification: Performance Trade-Offs in Verifying Large-Scale Multiprocessors

A single node of a modern scalable multiprocessor consists of several ASICs comprising tens of millions of gates. This level of integration and complexity imposes an enormous onus on the verification process. A variety of tools, ranging from discrete-event logic simulation to formal model checking, can be used to attack this problem. Unfortunately, conventional simulation techniques, with their...

An Efficient Genetic Algorithm for Task Scheduling on Heterogeneous Computing Systems Based on TRIZ

An efficient assignment and scheduling of tasks is one of the key elements in effective utilization of heterogeneous multiprocessor systems. The task scheduling problem has been proven to be NP-hard is the reason why we used meta-heuristic methods for finding a suboptimal schedule. In this paper we proposed a new approach using TRIZ (specially 40 inventive principles). The basic idea of thi...

How to Make a Correct Multiprocess Program Execute Correctly on a Multiprocessor

A multiprocess program executing on a modern multiprocessor must issue explicit commands to synchronize memory accesses. A method is proposed for deriving the necessary commands from a correctness proof of the underlying algorithm in a formalism based on temporal relations among operation executions. index terms concurrency, memory consistency, multiprocessor, synchronization, verification Auth...
